Saturday Review - 20th Oct 12

The Premier League action is finally back, and so is Fantasy Football for all! I'll try a new point-form format for this week. Feel free to leave your comments! :)

Tottenham 2-4 Chelsea
- 4-2 minutes, I thought Tottenham was going to win.
- To the 3.9% of TFL managers who transferred in Gareth Bale for this weekend, your agony on his withdrawal would be nowhere close to his partner's childbirth pains.
- Bale doesn't have 2 weeks of parental leave, right?
- Juan Mata is on fire these few weeks. 12 points from a brace & an assist, and 31 points from past 4 games. Not to be left out, Eden Hazard also contributed to an assist, but for £1.5mil cheaper, you can get his Spaniard teammate instead.
- 6 out of 19 Chelsea goals have come from Defenders. Meanwhile, Fernando Torres' goal tally remains at 2.

Fulham 1-0 Aston Villa
- Last season, John Arne Riise managed only 5 assists. Tonight was his 4th assist in 8 games this season. Considering his price is only £3.7mil, and he has overtook Branislav Ivanovic as the top fullback performer, look for his ownership to increase in the forthcoming weeks.
- Personal note: I deliberated extensively on Friday night whether to swap Angel Rangel for Riise, and in the end, decided not to. What a costly 7-point differential...uurgh.
- This is the 3rd Clean Sheet for Fulham this seaon.
- Darren Bent starts, but could not find a way through Fulham's defence, and was duly replaced by Christian Benteke in the 75th min. Neither...in fact, none of the Villa's players are looking to be a fantasy prospect at the moment.

Liverpool 1-0 Reading
- As my TODAY article pointed out, even though Luiz Suarez may have a poor shot-to-goal ratio, but he makes lots of key passes, and in this game, one of it found Raheem Sterling for his 1st ever Premier League goal.
- Suarez's on-target shots is currently at 24% (12 on target out of 50 attempts). To put that in perspective, players who have worse percentage include Fabio Borini (22.2%, 2 out of 9), and Andy Carroll (20%, 2 out of 10).
- I see a trend here...
- Despite their poor performances, Reading do have easier upcoming fixture. With 3 assists this season, Jobi McAnuff @ £3.7mil might be a potential differential for fantasy managers.

Man Utd 4-2 Stoke
- Wayne Rooney was so bored, that he decided to score on both ends for a "hattrick".
- With all the focus on other high-scoring strikers, the most expensive TFL striker, Robin van Persie, has his 4th consecutive "scoring week" (assist or goal) due to his goal and assist in today's match. He's still the most selected player in TFL with 47% though.
- Then again, Rooney has amassed more TFL points at the moment (23 vs 20 for RVP), and is £0.5mil cheaper. His deeper role, especially in away games, might be a concern.
- & don't be put off by Stoke's defence. Prior to the game, the Potters only conceded 5 goals in 7 games, and will be having a run of easier fixtures.

Swansea 2-1 Wigan
- MICHUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
- Even though he might have replaced Danny Graham, who was dropped, in the striker role, Swansea will be facing Man City & Chelsea in the next 2 games.
- Emmerson Boyce opened his goal account in the game. He already has 9 goal attempts this season (joint-2nd highest), though Wigan's defence & form aren't exactly in tip-top form.

WBA 1-2 Man City
Edin Dzeko, Man City Legend.
- Seriously, his goal record is amazing considering the amount of gametime he's given. 114.8 mintes per goal last season, 60.8 minutes per goal this season.
- Yet again, Sergio Aguero was on the bench, and this time, he came off to provide the game-winning assist. This is another player who doesn't need much game-time to score fantasy points for teams.
- Only blemish has to be no CS for City, but it was an uphill task once they were down to 10 men.

West Ham 4-1 Southampton
- Finally, West Ham got their penalty, and Mark Noble hits it from the spot. He was a pre-season fantasy favourite, but his on-pitch performance didn't lead to any fantasy output...till this weekend.
- Instead, it was his captain Kevin Nolan that was the preferred West Ham midfielder choice. 4 goals this season makes him the 2nd highest scoring midfielder in Premier League, and he's currently the joint-3rd highest scoring midfielder in TFL...
- ...similar to Adam Lallana. who was the only shining star for Southampton in the defeat. This is his 4th consecutive scoring gameweek, and looks more assured than Ricky Lambert in the 1st eleven.
- Speaking of Lambert, even though he's cheap for a striker, but does a fantasy manager want to select someone who could end up on the bench in away games?

Norwich 1-0 Arsenal
- If someone told you that there will be a team who kept a clean sheet in this match, would you have guessed it was Norwich?
Gervinho is back in the flanks again, which means he's a classified striker, which means you should take him out from your team.
Santi Cazorla: 4 chances created, 3 goal attempts, 1 fantasy point return.
